Why I Wake Up Bright and Early for Journalism 205

Most college students shrug at the thought of having an 8 a.m. morning class and I am not going to lie getting up early is certainly not ideal. That is just the sacrifice I am willing to make for Journalism 205. I don’t have any previous history with journalism, which made me both intrigued and hesitant for this class. Not only did I get lost trying to find the class on the first day, I felt slightly bombarded with future assignments. It wasn’t until the second class where I realized I was most definitely capable of succeeding in Journalism 205, especially when I talked to my fellow peers with the same fears as me. The more I sat and listened in class I came to the conclusion that journalism is very unique compared to other classes offered here at Cal Poly. It allows students like myself to express our individuality and point of view through writing.

I am a second year Dairy Science major and have an interest in the agricultural community I thought this class would broaden my knowledge of the massive agriculture world. I decided to take this class primarily because I believed it would satisfy my curiosity for the always changing agriculture community and keep me integrated in it as one day I will step foot in it. I love going out of my comfort zone to gain new experiences and I am sure Journalism 205 will challenge me. I can’t wait to see where this class will take me, who knows I might be a true journalist at heart.
